Fire services increasingly rely on thermal imaging technology to help them in their work. Having the ability to see through dense smoke in conditions of badly reduced visibility enables the firefighter to not only navigate, but also to locate people in need of rescue.

Maximising the number of thermal imagers available for their firefighters, brigades often choose the most cost-effective devices. However, performance is often less than desired by firefighters who want better quality, larger images that allow all objects in a room to be distinguished.

By applying our advanced image processing technology to a leading hand-held thermal imager used by forces worldwide, we have been able to produce greatly enhanced imagery from the same unit . Objects that would previously have become invisible when too close to a fire can now be seen, and a clearer, sharper picture is displayed.
