Title:

Applying constrained estimators to ground target tracking

Abstract:

Constrained state estimators are developed in the context of ground target tracking. Equality and inequality constraint types are considered. Their application within the estimation process can be viewed in two different ways: as a geometric projection onto a constraint surface, or as an integration of pseudomeasurements. Numerical filtering algorithms are formulated from these joint perspectives. The algorithms are then applied to two generic target scenarios, in which the target trajectory is confined to a straight road. This enables an initial evaluation of the computational cost, performance, and applicability of the methods.
