Title

Image volume registration

Abstract:

For the purposes of long-range reconnaissance and situational awareness, the use of three-dimensional information presents a great benefit to the military domain.

The development of algorithms which can provide such information from sequences of two-dimensional imagery is a non-trivial task, but has the potential to yield enhanced capability.

The techniques that are presented here extend the well understood Image Registration technology into a new class of methods that we entitle Volume Registration.

This paper describes some of the novel algorithms that have been developed for performing this task, the promising results achieved to date, and future research planned under the SEAS DTC.
